What do you look for in a casting call?
#1
I know I'm fairly strict when it comes to casting calls, but I sincerely want everyone to have a good experience. I think a well written post with a project that interests me is super important.  If it's fan made an art style I like also goes a long way as it tells me the creator has similar tastes to me.

What do the rest of you look for in a casting call post? ( audition) and if you get most of your VO work elsewhere how and where do you look?

Porn. I only audition for porn projects.

I'm drawn to original projects that people have poured their heart and soul into. You can always tell by the detail in their post, or the concept that they've created.

I'm never attracted to fandubs or fan projects generally (though I do like a good animation), as they're just so common and there's very little glory to be had in my eyes.
Though I do love contributing to mods for games, which is maybe a bit hypocritical. If you're a modder I'm automatically interested in your project.

Mods are interesting as they involve diving deep into a game and making original content. The failure rate for some mods is very high though as some have no idea how to work with actors. That said when you find a good team it's great, I think I'm especially picky with mods!

That's interesting. I guess I've not been around long enough to experience bad modder-actor relations.
I've voiced for 3 mods so far and bug tested for plenty more. I guess a lot of modders have a sole vision that they are pretty strict with, especially when they're a one man/woman team who've put in the bulk of the work.

Some of them can be a bit.....abrupt.

Perhaps I've been unlucky! What games have you worked on mods for?

I think the main thing I look for is that there's some form of artwork being shown. Too many projects that have a text post that randomly go quiet :/

I think after that, I read through most of the audition lines to make sure that dialogue is written decently Smile oh and I try to check out the project poster's post history, see if they're professional. Ran into a few projects that seemed like they'd be fun, but the OP was kind of rude to any sort of criticism or questions. That's a bit of a turnoff
